A lot of my birding is in quite noisy environments, where the menace of traffic noise is present. The digital cut-off at lower frequencies is a tremendous help in this respect, allowing me to increase the SongFinger's volume without amplifying the traffic noise. By the way, I don't know how large your business venture is, but should you decide to attend any Birding events in this country, I would be pleased to meet you and endorse your excellent product. David Holt The Songfinder is the best thing I ever purchased! It is fantastic. I can't say enough good things about it. I ordered a unit late last year so I only caught the tail end of the birds singing. Now as spring approaches I am overwhelmed with all the singing birds. I can now hear birds (and identify them) that I never heard before. My favorite bird now is the Song Sparrow because it was the first bird I heard sing in 35 years. Last week I was able to hear the Woodcock "peenting" for the first time. I am amazed at how much I was missing. I can't wait until the warblers start moving through. I tell every birder that I meet about the songfinder and a surprising number of people have expressed interest. I guess there are a lot of people out there who can't hear the high frequency sounds. I was just telling my wife that I was going to order a second unit in case the first one had to be repaired . . . this way I will always have a back up. (I will be sending in an order soon.) I damaged my high pitch hearing as a teenager shooting pistols without ear protection (did not have then). Friday I heard a Cedar Waxwing for the first time ever - I am now 70 years old. Thank you for such an excellent product. Thomas C. Peterson, M.D. p.s. tried various hearing aids; no good at all. I have to tell you that the SongFinder is nothing short of miraculous. I came late to birding and according to my audiologist I have a genetic loss of high frequency hearing. According to her, "bad ears for a bird watcher". I had resigned myself to never hearing most warblers and many other small birds. My wife and I have come to an understanding that she no longer asks "Did you hear that?". I have used a DVD of warblers to improve my identification skills in the winter (Watching warblers by Michael Male and Judy Fieth) which has video and sound of all the common eastern warblers. I could only hear about a third of the warblers on the DVD. When the SongFinder arrived, the first thing I did was watch the DVD. Amazingly, I could hear every warbler!!! Most of these I had never heard before in the wild or on CD or DVD. For example, I had no idea what a Black and White warbler sounded like as I had never heard one. I walk to work every day about 2 kilometers along a wooded path. Yesterday and today, walking with the songfinder, I could hear birds chattering and chipping while in the past my walks were relatively quiet except for very loud or large birds. It has already transformed my walks to work. Our house is on the edge of the woods and sitting on my deck I now hear lots of bird songs and chips that I have never heard in the nearly 30 years we have lived here. My only regret is that it is now fall and I will have to wait until next spring to hear all the warblers singing. Again, thanks for this great invention, in only a couple of days it has truly transformed my approach to birding as sound is now a significant part of it while before I relied almost exclusively on sight for small birds. I expect you know how much I missed. Thanks again for this wonderful device. Gene Herzberg The SongFinder worked like a charm. It is head and shoulders above hearing aids. I couldn't believe that I was missing all those birds for so long. The slow progression of hearing loss is deceptive, the extent of it isn't appreciated until one uses the SongFinder. Many people at Point Pelee were very interested in the product. You can be sure that I gave them full details. My wife and I ended up with about 130 species at Point Pelee, Ont., and Meriden, Ct., many of which were identified by sound at first and then confirmed visually for the most part. Takes a little getting used to, since the sounds are slightly different than what I was used to, but the learning curve is not too steep. As a cicada biologist it has been essential for me to hear their species-specific songs. But age has now caught up with me and I have lost my high frequency hearing and so just can't hear many of the smaller species at all. This has curtailed my field research considerably. The SongFinder has been a life saver. It enables me to hear all the small cicadas again. I just can't believe how well it works. I now have the ability to hear some species with very soft, high frequency songs that even my young colleagues have trouble hearing. This machine has made effective field work possible again, something that I am so grateful for. Max Moulds 
The SongFinder suits my hearing completely. I am primarily a birder but I have also been able to find a fairly rare insect in addition to being able to appreciate birdsong from many of the higher pitched bird species. On day one I heard a Roesel's Bush-cricket, a scarce species, and then found it, much to my delight. On day two I heard a Grasshopper Warbler. At the time I was with a friend who has a justifiably high opinion of his ability to hear and identify birds by song. He was not able to pick out the song as it was quite distant. He then used the SongFinder to confirm my findings. Most satisfactory!
